As Fed's Bank Stress Test Release Wall Street Ends Higher

The white paper on Fed's stress test was released and better than expected results from Ford.

The US Federal Reserve released the methods it used to conduct stress tests of the biggest US banks, while stopping short of any details that signaled how much new capital regulators will demand.

American Express was the primary leader among financial stocks. The stock rose 20% after the company reported better-than-expected earnings.

Financial stocks briefly fell into negative territory following the announcement, but quickly recovered and helped lift the broader market to its session highs late in the afternoon.

The Dow gained 119.23 points(1.5%), The S&P 500 index gained 14.31points(1.7%) and the Nasdaq composite index added 42.08 points (2.6%).
